Native OS Vs Skins

Technobuffalo's Jon rettinger talked about something that i thought 'why has nobody ever said something like this before' i just found it stupid how nobody in the amount of years we've had HTC sense and many people complaining that we haven't really asked this question. Sure you've got the ability to root your phone and you can put any Build onto your device. It's just amazing and it's a really good idea too, if you want to the Native OS without Rooting or buying a Google Device like the Galaxy Nexus or the Nexus 7, Or you could boot up into the skin that HTC or Motorola is trying to push on us.

I think i've come up with a compramise and it might not be the greatest deal of difference to the end user because their only buying a phone basing it off the looks and design and that's about it, all they care about is how does it work out of the box and for the average teen. Can it send messages and access facebook? and sadly i'm in this generation of consumerism and it's quite bad because when people look at me on my phone writing a blog or a random thought of the day that i have, they assume that i'm texting somebody or on facebook.

Sorry i'm getting off topic. here's the compromise, if HTC ripped out their skin and just had the native OS and had exclusive features/apps that no other manfacturer could develop or get close to. because let's face it the average consumer isn't going to really care about the skin that they are using, they just want to know if the phone is working. It would be the same for all companies, Rip out their skin and subsitute for the native OS and have exclusive apps.

This reminds me a lot of the Nokia Lumia 800 how they were one of the first people to have windows phone 7.5 mango and instead of putting a skin over it and destroy a great looking OS like windows phone, they gave their line-up of phone exclusive apps like Nokia drive and nokia music, Etc

I've been doing a lot of rants lately and i really like it because most of these are just coming out off the top of my head and it's really easy to write down. I probably won't be doing a roundup of tech news tomorrow since i'm busy seeing my family and plus i've got to finish writing my script for the soap opera that were doing in college so yeh. Unbelievable Apple!

me and my uncles go back and forth all the time about technology and he recommended me to have a look at the link on 9To5mac or Mac rumors, i can't remember but it was a apple fanboy dedicated news website and with the iPhone 5 coming out, The most obvious thing that most of all tech bloggers do is play with it, get a feel and have a review ready for it to be published in the tech world, but something that they've started doing in the last 10 months is test the benchmark of the device.

What's a benchmark? well i'll tell you, A benchmark is pushing something or someone until they can't run anymore or perform those tasks anymore, Well in technology terms this means, pushing the CPU/CPU to it's highest potential to see what it's capable of. A few months ago they started comparing Benchmarks with the HTC One X and the Galaxy nexus and many other android phone.

Obviously for months the HTC one X beat every phone/tablet due to it's Quad-Core Tegra 3 chip set and then like everything else in technology, something else comes out that destroys the competition, The Galaxy S3 was that something, Samsung recieved a Quad core Exynos Chip and absolutely blew the HTC one x out of the water. Well as the years go by and technology gets forever smaller and better then arrives the iPhone 5 with an A6 chip. First thing is that the A6 chip is only dual core and you might be thinking it's rubbish since it doesn't fit with today's criteria of chip sets. Well that's where you're wrong, the iPhone 5 beat the benchmark of the Galaxy S3! a Quad core phone got beaten by a Dual core.

Ever since i've been interested in technology, i've always said for Desktops and laptops, Specifications matter but when it comes to phones and tablets, they don't need a very powerful chip to run. All you need is a Great ecosystem where the CPU/GPU can live harmously with the operating system and this is where apple has got it right.

Experience with a Mac

Normally with any device that i have, i can't help but tweak it and make it my own. Such as iPhones they have to be as a requirement to be jailbreakon, Android smartphones have to be rooted so i can have the best native operatings system and plus i don't have to abide by stupid skins that manufactueres put on like HTC and Motorola. I personally don't like HTC sense 4.0.3, The multi-tasking on the HTC One series is awful, it trys to replicate a webos style of multi-tasking but it appears slugglish and not well thought out. I'll be doing a blog about When you first boot up your phone should you get an option to boot up into HTC sense or Native OS. Don't worry i've got a lot of things to cover on that.

I've digressed, every device, even laptops, i like to tweak like dual booting it into Lixux or Mac (if it's a windows laptop) roughly everything on my windows laptop has been tweaked in some way shape or form. It's nothing like it was when it first arrived at my door. With the Macbook Pro that i recieved for my birthday, which was a complete surprise, my family worked together to get me a Macbook pro and i'm happy that they did because between the wars of the Desktop OS, the obvious winner is Mac OSX by a long shot.

I've have no tempation to alter the Mac in any way, It just works as Steve Jobs says. it's the best Computer experience i've had, Sure there were a few hiccups when the keyboard and one of the fans stopped working but everything is fixed now and it works as advertised. I've also had more of a tendency to be creative in my writing, my video effects, Music development and many other things. I've created a few beats in Garageband, they may not be good but i'm still learning to mix all the notes, and beats together to create a harminous sound.

The iPhone 5 Review

It's time for it the iPhone 5 blog, i didn't really feel like i had to rush to do a iPhone 5 blog but now it's been out for about 4 days now and enough tech bloggers have got their hands on it and they've figured out the problems and their opinions and it's kind of hard for me since i've got to base my tech reviews of other tech bloggers reviews, sure i've got my own opinions but if i don't get an actual hands-on, i can't really have an truly honest opinon about the tech

We are all aware of the new features with the iPhone but i'll give you a basic rundown of it, 4 inch display but still keeping the same width as the previous generation iPhones so you're able to reach your finger from top to bottom just like you used to. Roughly every component of the iPhone 5 has been shrunk down by at least 30%, which is just amazing from an engineering stand point. it's amazing what apple has accomplished with Johnny Ive and their whole engineering team.

There were no drastic changes to the iPhone 5 in terms of like Siri for the iPhone 4S or the retina display and new design of the iPhone 4. The only thing that is changed is the screen and the specifications. i can't really say much about the iPhone that hasn't already been said.

I honestly think at this point that iOS 6 has got really really boring. it's just not satisfying anymore but i'm not saying apple have created an awful operating system but it's got rather boring for me ever since i've started using Webos and Android. iOS has just been the same thing every year, they've not even added widgets yet (only in the notification centre). Apple can create a great ecosystem for their Operating system and i'll be talking about the Mac and it's awesomeness in tomorrow's blog.

you might have noticed that in the internet world, people have been taking the piss out of iPhone 5, like creating pictures like iPhone 305 or iPhone 20, I get these pictures, but after 1 picture, it's just not funny anymore, sure you can see why the people created them but it's just not funny and another thing that's in the internet world is iOS 6 Maps. iOS 6 maps might not be as good as advertised, i'll show you a picture and you can judge for yourself.

Update: Apple announced that they sold their 5 millionth iPhone today, in just under 3 days, they've been able to sell 5 million units of the iPhone 5 and ever since wednesday and there is now 100 million devices running iOS 6.

I've updated to Jellybean!!

I've said on my roundup of tech news on friday that i'll be talking about the iPhone 5 but i've recently upgraded to Jellybean on my samsung I9000 and it's my first user experience with Jellybean so i thought i'd make monday's blog about Jellybean because basically everybody knows what the iPhone is and if you read my blog, you're bound to check out people's reviews on Youtube or Tech websites, so why talk about something that everybody knows or just talk about my experience with jellybean first hand

I've just updated to Jellybean, and to be honest, i didn't really have to make a day of it. All i did was wipe the dalvik cache and wipe the partition, install the rom and that was it. Dalvik cache, i learnt of what it was from the android power user over on youtube.com/pocketnow
You should check him out, he explains everything in so much depth and yet keeping it very simple of keeping track of where he is.

There were a few hiccups when installing Jellybean. First there was backing it up so in case anything was messed up, i could still go back to that state in time. Installing the Rom was a bit confusing, first i thought i missed out a step. I clicked on installing the rom and it did it's normal procedure but then my Samsung i9000 rebooted and came up with a loading screen and it was like that for about 20 minutes until finally, i decided to take the battery out and try to install it again but i couldn't get it into Clockworkmod (CWM) so i kept trying and trying until i got into CWM and thank goodness that i got back into it or otherwise my phone would have been stuck in booting up mode or Powered off. i went through the normal steps of installing a new rom and it went successfully. So after that long procedure i've now got jelly bean on my Phone.

Google Now is fantastic and much more responsive and better looking than siri.
everything that i throw at google now has worked in a way that it feels futuristic. Offline voice typing might not be there yet but i've still got to download another zip file so i can gain access to offline voice typing. Google have really improved on the android OS. I honestly think that they were fine with ICS but with every major operating system, it needs to be updated annually. Jellybean is the best android operating system to date and probably Google will probably blow us away next year with kiwi lime pie or whatever the next android Code name is.

Here comes the main attraction - Project Butter. Project butter is so slickly smooth. It's super fast, Animations start straight away as soon as you touch the screen. Google have really done a number on the android OS in the past couple of years and they've been focusing more on user experience. ICS was just the building ground of what they could achieve with jellybean and they've really improved. Sorry if i'm repeating my words but jellybean is worth the excitement and hype unlike Hunger games like my movie reviews.

Thanks for reading my opinion on Jellybean, if you've got a device that can accept Jellybean, speaking on that every phone can accept Jellybean, the worlds first android phone the T-mobile G1 has got Jellybean so if a developer out there has ported Jellybean over to your device, i kindly recommend you get it immeditially.

Roundup of tech news 21st september.

Hey, i know i said i won't be doing a roundup of tech news but it seems that i've got a little extra time to do it so here it goes.

We all know Apple released their iPhone 5 today but i'll be saving that for monday's blog. Some of you might have already got it, It's iOS 6 and it was released on the 19th featuring 3D maps with flyover, a better integrated siri, for launching apps and finding out who one the football game last night. Facebook integration, you can post your pictures directly to Facebook and you can post your status right from the notification centre. The only reason why i'm downloading iOS 6 onto my iPhone 3GS is to see if it actually fixes the battery problem i've had with it and hopefully i can throw away my iPhone 3G (it's an iPOD) and start using my iPhone 3GS as an iPod. Well it just 24 hours of iOS 6 being released, it's already on 15% of iOS devices. That's just phenomal isn't it! It's got to be the biggest launch of any Software upgrade ever, Apple announced at the iPhone 5 conference that they just sold their 400 millionth iOS device. Right now picture 15% of that! i lot of people won't actually know that it's come out yet and they might be still stuck on iOS 4, Just like my Dad.

Here's another thing about Apple tech news. iMessage was down a couple of days ago and causing a widespread of complains on twitter and the forums on Apple's support. This was due to the fact that Apple had an Uproar of people upgrading and there was that many people using it and it was detained to crash.

Google aquried snapseed this week. Now i will be honest, i have no idea what this company is. i think it's a rival of Instagram, It's slightly the same thing, taking a picture and then adding a filter , uploading it to Facebook and letting the world know what you're having for tea. Honestly i hate these people because they are taking up bandwidth that the internet desperately needs.  The reason behind google buying snapseed and i think Google are going to integrate into Google + and try to get more users actually using google +. Also 2 weeks ago Google announced that it had over 400 million members signed up to google plus and you know what the sad thing is, is that Only 100 million people actually go back on it at least once a month.

Thanks for reading and that's been the tech news of this week. Sorry if this Blog seems rushed but it slightly is and it also might not make sense but if you've been reading my blogs ever since the start, you'll notice that i never make sense haha

Respect to windows phone

I was having a look at the windows phone 7, and as i'm testing out what each button does, Holding down the home button, activates a voice search screen, like Siri or google voice, and i'll be having a blog about that in the upcoming weeks. Holding down the Back button, reveals something that i'm not sure what it is, could it be a multi-tasking UI screen, or could it just be a recent apps screen, I'm not apple to close the apps, such as swiping them up like Webos or holding the app down, so i get a new menu screen.  it's not going to be a big blog, since it's just a pondering question and could anybody else who's got a windows powered smartphone, could they enlighten me. I'm just curious of what it is.

As i was using the Nokia lumia, it was very intrusive and not so laid back as iOS. windows Phone features live tiles, If you're screen is hovering over the people app, it goes through the pictures in your in your contacts and displays them little segments. It's the same thing with the Facebook application, the Facebook Icon has Live tile enabled features. The messages application is very good how it's white on black giving a greater perception on the eyes. I don't know if my eyes are funny or it's just what everybody is like but i find reading Black writing on a white screen, very hard to read and hard to scan through it but if i invert the colours and read white writing on a black screen, It's much better for my eyes and it's much Much easier to read. I love the contrast on the screen. The HTC titan has a 4" inch screen at a resolution of 480x800 and that just brings everything closer to your eyes and with all the colourful textures that are found in the windows Phone environment, everything just stands out.

Personally, i quite love the simple user interface and the live tiles on Windows phone but the only restriction is apps when compared to android and iOS. Most of the people say that when they moved over to a windows phone, The applications that they regularly used, we supported or supported by the manufacture.

Thanks for reading. Sorry it's been a late blog and there might no be a roundup of tech news since i'm quite busy this friday night.

Batteries in smartphones today

why haven't we seen a device that can charge up whilst powered off. my phone has normally never reached the point of it turning off by itself, usually i get around 4% and then i plug it in to charge it so i never actually see it off when it's got a dead battery inside. Using a ICS Rom, i get about 3 days battery life out of it and that's moderate use of the internet and texting all day long. I don't play on games that much but when i do i play minecraft or plants vs zombies. Something that can occupy my time with thinking and not just playing the repitiive game of angry birds. I've got the Jelly bean rom on my phone ready to install but in order to install it, i've got to format it and then wipe the cache and other stuff just to install and i want to make sure when i've got enough time one day i'll do it.

Back to my original, Why can't phones especially smartphone charge up while being powered off. Laptops and other technology devices like a DS or a gameboy have had this technology for years but for our phones can't even do that. Why is this? Is it something to do with the internals of every smartphone that's preventing us to charge our phone while turned off or are companies doing it on purpose?
I'm not actually sure by this.

My phone recently ran out of battery and i had to charge it up and for some reason, it wasn't booting up properly so i put into clockwork mod and let it gain enough battery before i unplugged it from the wall and then turned the device on and then plugged it in back into the wall so it could charge normally. There's not really a reason behind this blog, i just thought how it's strange that we've advanced so far in technology and yet we still can't come up with a way to charge up our technology without it being turned on.

First of all, i might be wrong. I'm talking smartphones, not Dumbphones/stupidphones as they are now known as. Some smartphones out there might be able to charge without the need of it being on. And as always Thanks for reading.

Bad Piggies, Angry birds spin off!

The people at rovio are known for creating the angry birds franchise that has taken our smartphones by storm and roughly everybody without fail has angry birds on their phone. Resulting in millions and millions of sales across all platforms. They've been bringing out constant updates so that all the fans are able to get their angry birds on.

Angry birds, in my opinion isn't that good and personally i think it's over-rated. All the game is taking care of is casual gamers that just want a quick 5 minute fix where they can play the game without getting stuck. it takes advantage of the trial and error format. If you fail, you try again and again and again until you complete the level and achieve 3 stars.

Rovio have tried to keep us entertained with Angry birds seasons, every festival like halloween and valentines day is covered in the world of angry birds with different themed levels to suit the approatiate holiday season.

Angry birds Space is the newest edition that takes to outer space with new gameplay mechanics. Planets have surrounding orbit and that controls your birds has they fly across through space. affecting the planets and killing pigs as usual with the angry birds franchise.

There's a new game on the horizon that reverses the gameplay. you know play as the piggies instead and you might be thinking ' Oh that's original' but if you have a look at the gameplay, it's entirely new gameplay concept. you can create your own vechiles using the materials and object provided and using your head you can create a plane or a flying car, jet powered boat, anything is possible and you guide your little piggy through the level.
Here's the link so you can get a little taste of the action.
I'm honestly looking forward to this game, it's the biggest change in the angry birds franchise. honestly i don't know i like the new game mechanics or i'm just relieved that Rovio have decided to move forward with their company and franchises

Have apple reached their top or have they got room to grow

With the iPhone 5 being released today, what do you think apple could do to up their game next year and the year after that and so on and so forth. I'm not sure where apple will go now, The iPhone 5 has had two million pre-orders, That double the sales of the iPhone 4S on the first day. There are two sides to this.

The iPhone 4S was only a small upgrade from the iPhone 4 to give a little lead in the competition against other smartphones and not many people bought it since their two year contract with the iPhone 4 has one year left and loads of people didn't really see the point in upgrading to the iPhone 4S since it only had one extra feature and that was siri. The voice assistant that helps you out on day to day tasks and makes you life easier but that's the only feature that really sold the iPhone 4S to many people.

The sales of the iPhone 5 on the other hand is a massive upgrade, sure you've got greatest specifications but you've also got the biggest change since the original iPhone. The screen, Apple have made the iPhone taller by giving it a 4 inch display and getting rid of the 3.5inch screen to fit with the forever growing mobile market. So to justify the iPhone 5 sales can just be down to a lot of people who were ending their contract on the iPhone 4 and they wanted the upgrade and then theres apple fanboys who upgrade every year who want the latest and greatest iPhone, and then you get new comers that instead of getting the older version of the iPhone and being instantly out of date will just go for the newest version.

I'm not actually sure if Apple have reached the top of their game, is that it from apple. A lot of people said this when the original iPod nano came out. A lot of people were saying why bring out a new product that does something that we already have but smaller. This is where all the idea of technology has gone, Every so often new technology comes out like the invention of the microchip and shrinks down a processor and yet makes it more powerful.

I'm not sure where apple can go from here, Tim cook have always left the stage saying "that's only the start"
Has he been working on a new product that will not only change the face of technology but change the way we think about what technology. Like the iPhone, iPod and the iPad.

Silly Cheating Apple

Apple have been known for making quality products, the design, the execution of the body is just to die for but when you hear the news that the new iPhone 5 will only cost $167 to make. And apple are selling it for about 300% more. It's just really really bad.

Sure there's two sides of the spectrum when talking about this. If apple make a affordable iPhone then everybody will have them and i know that roughly everyone has one and by making it affordable, it wouldn't become a luxurious device to have. The other side is apple have got to make up for the cost of all the research they did, the amount of prototypes they produced to get to a final form factor that they thought was suitable, Plus all the man hours that got put into the production of the iPhone 5 to make it what it is today. So that's two sides of the story. People will buy the iPhone 5 regardless of the price, they'll just buy it because they want to have a new iPhone even though it might not be a worthy upgrade people will always go for the latest device in order to keep up with the market.

If i was going to build a phone, like the iPhone 5, the price point that i would like to go for is $300, so i'd still make $133. That's just the phone, i'm not including the earpods, the chargers and other accessories that come with the iPhone. When the kinect came out, it was £149 to buy and as it was released, it only cost £60 to make and i think they would have sold a lot more kinect if they hit the £99 price point. I was have definitley bought it, Not for the games or even use it with the Xbox. i can plug it into my computer and run some hacking software, and i can easily create 3D objects or just by rotating the kinect around the object and by running special software, you can immediatly have that object on 3DS max.

Packed with the iPhone 5 is the latest and greatest mobile operating system ever. Personally i don't think that but that's what apple are saying. Android is way better in terms of customisation, with iOS all you can do is change your homescreen wallpaper and that's as for it goes for customisation on iOS.

Roundup of tech news friday 14th september

Carriers such as Vodafone and o2 have been giving Blackberry smartphones less shelf space. to be honest, this isn't surprising at all since blackberry devices have been going down hill for months and months and of course android powered are coming out all over the place. Some making the affordable market like the galaxy ACE and then there's flagship devices such as galaxy S3 and the HTC one x. If blackberry want to get back into the market, RIM might have to bribe, carrier stores in order to once again compete with the growing technology markets.

Something that we were all expecting is the Removal of PING, The social network that was put there by Steve Jobs to compete with Facebook and spotify. The reason for this, is ages ago when the iPad came out, Steve Jobs and Mark zuckerberg were having talks to bring out the first Facebook tablet application and the iPad would be first tablet to receive a Facebook dedicated app, But as things got pushed back and back, eventually a Facebook did come out for a tablet but not the iPad, The HP touchpad. After Steve learnt this, He went to war with Facebook and tried to bring out a music based social network where people could share comments about music, Like music and even buy music from the PING store. Sadly it failed and has now been removed from iTunes. THey'll be removing at when iTunes 11 comes out. iTunes 11 will be coming out in october.

Speaking about Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg, Mark promises that he's going to keep Instagram as a independent company and will be focusing new features of how to make them work better in the same environment. Instagram and Facebook work really well but he wants to amplify this service. This is rather a good move on mark's side. Instagram could become part of Facebook and many people might just forget about it and then mark would lose all the money that he spent to aqruire Instagram.

Well if it isn't surprising at all that we have to talk about the iPhone 5 in the roundup. you actually can't get away from it. iPod touches were also announced which i haven't got the chance to talk about it. iPod touches have skipped last years generation release and they've been brought out this year running the A5 chip that's 7 times after than the previous generation iPod touch. the iPod touch comes in 7 colours of the spectrum. and the first time ever, you'll be able to attach a wrist strap to your iPod touch, so you can easily take pictures and play with it reducing the risk of dropping it. It's known as the iPod touch loop.

iPod nano's have also got a revamp, Instead of sticking with the small sized iPod nano, they've decided to go for 2.5 inch multi-touch screen display. The design is sleek and very fashionable. This also features, a DVI radio, so you can pause your favourite radio station so you're not missing out no your favourite song.

So how are you going to listen to these devices, Well Apple have been studying for 3 years, analysing hundreds of people's ears in order to achieve the best shape for their earphones… Or Earpods in fact. Apple have engineered the earpods to fit with any ear and make sure the listener has the best listening experience. The design is said to directly go into your ear canal and give you the best experience.

and as always thanks for reading the roundup of the week

Apple's Attention to detail

Remember ages ago, when iOS 6 beta was released to developers and all over the internet, they were congratulating apple on what they did to improve it and how the features work out but there's one little thing that you might not notice in the entire build of Apple's OS and that's Apple's attention to detail and adding little features that a lot of people that would just skip over and not release that it's happening and no i'm not talking about the background processes.
One feature that i only discovered the other day was double tapping on the lockscreen battery whilst charging, it performs a barrel roll and you can actually perform a barrel roll yourself on Google. Just type in on the search bar, do a barrel roll and it will do a barrel roll for you. you need a HTML 5 enabled web browser. That's just one of many little features that apple add.

One more feature on the messages, if you have your text field enabled on the messages app and then swiping down on the conversation, the text field and the keyboard will transition down. It's kind of hard to explain but as an apple fanboy would say "it just works".

There's also one more feature that has caught the eye of many iOS 6 users. with the volume knobs on the iPod app, they were pretty bland in iOS 5 and below but with iOS 6, it's been replaced by metal spinners, and one of the neat little features that apple included was the metal spinners would react with the accelerometer and it would make a reflective like surface. it may not be a big feature but that's what apple put out.

That's as many apple little features that i can remember at the time of this blog. But it just astounds me how apple can create little features that nobody will ever see unless you examine every crack of iOS.

Thanks for reading What do you think about the new iPhone 5? Did Tim cook hit the greatness of what Steve Jobs could achieve?

The iPhone 5 is finally here!!

Now that the iPhone 5 conference in San Francisco finished, the question is what did apple release? Well where do i actually start. Really where do i start, Apple released a slew of many new devices, propherials, some things that we were expecting and somethings that we had no clue.

First with the leaks coming out left, right and centre about the new tweaked design for the iPhone 5, It seems everything had that iPhone or that case and posting pictures on the internet and for a while, i thought that Tim Cook was playing an evil trick on us. Trying to trick the fanboy's of the tech world, android and Apple fanboys and then squashing those dreams at the conference where he would reveal the new design. For months, i just thought this would be Tim cook's new technique to being a lone gunman in a vast sea with steve jobs.

Well the new iPhone is actually called the iPhone 5 and all the leaked pictures were right, all the leaked power adaptors were right and Oh yes the 4 inch display was correct. Apple put emphasis on the fact it had a bigger screen. Repeatedly going into Stock iOS apps and showing off how much more space he had. It's still going to retain the famous 326 pixels per inch at a 16:9 ratio. Here comes the design, It's going to be 7.6mm thin at 18% thinner than the iPhone 4 and 4S. and it's going to be 112 grams at 20% lighter.
I actually don't know how apple do it. They increase the battery life of the already existing great battery life and yet seem to make it thinner and lighter. How do they do it? The width of the device hasn't changed at all, it's gotten taller to fit the 4 inch display within the device.

The charger port, Remember all the leaked photos and the charger plug. Well it's all true and it's not going to be called a 9-pin connector, it's going to be called…wait for it… Lightning. Yes lightning that's what the new charger is going to be called. it's 80% smaller and it possess more durability and it's also reversible so either which way you put it in your device, it will go in.

The full case, is made from Glass and Aluminium. I think apple have a little obsession with aluminium, Every product that they've made has featured alluvium on the exterior of the device. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, It's a beautiful material and there's not much variety that they created their products from.

Let's talk about internals.
Features the A6 Chip, Very powerful for gaming! EA came on and shown a game on stage and showed off the lighting effects, the reflections and the environments on the hit game, real racing. It's almost console quality. and here's a chip that we must have been talking since Samsung lost against apple. If apple was going to feature a 4G LTE chip in their new iPhone 5, Samsung were going to sue the crap out of apple.

Battery life, Amazingly apple have succeeded in creating a bigger battery life than the iPhone 4S even including the LTE chip. They've said you can get:
Ten hours of wifi browsing
eight hours of 3G browsing
eight hours of 4G browsing
two hundred and twenty five hours of Standby time.
That's just amazing, Apple have bee able to increase the standby time by twenty five hours. Apple have just triumph in Battery life once again for the last 5 years.

Surprisingly, we've not seen the NFC chip integrated into the iPhone 5 so that pushes Passbook using the NFC for better Use and simpler actions but i'm guessing Apple thought it wasn't that well developed yet, so they've decided to cut it all together or they're in the development of their own NFC style Chip which could possibility replace all the NFC chips we have now.

Something else that's minor about the iPhone 5, it's not anything shocking or surpringing, It's just that the audio jack has been moved to the bottom  of the device, just like the iPod touch. to be honest i've found it annoying how i've got to flip the phone in order to have the earphone jack pointing upwards out of my pocket and not pointed down like it usually is.

If you're wanting to get the new iPhone 5 and undoublty you are probably going to buy it since it's apple. Pre-orders/shipping start on friday 14th september so you can pick up your new iPhone on the 23rd of this month. This is perfectly exceptable, iOS 6 comes out on the 19th so apple are letting the already existing customers to upgrade to their latest operating system

So most of us, Know what iOS 6 is and what new features it has so i won't bore you with that or else you'll just be reading the same stuff that you saw up on stage at WWDC or on other tech blog sites.  but here's something that you might not have known. iOS 6 is going to be released to the general public on september 19th.

I'll be separating the two blogs, One's going to be the iPhone 5 based, So it's this one and the other things like iPod touches, nanos, Shuffles, Earpods and more minor changes. Plus in the upcoming weeks, i'll be talking about the new announcements the tech world makes on them when they recieve new news and the brand new iPhone.

Rim and Blackberry 10

I was speaking to my uncles, who are also tech euthenics and we're talking about the patent war and how stupid apple are at patenting something ilke the mouse and the slide to unlock and rounded icons and then we've switched the tides, and now we're talking about the faith of RIM, the creators being the blackberry phone line up.

I believe that RIM haven't got far to go, i'd wait until BB10 becomes a massive failure and then RIM is done, no more blackberry and no more QNX powered devices. Out of all the people that i've talked to that are interested in technology or have a good understanding of what's happening, they've said they'll see how things turn out and if it's a success, they might jump on the bandwagon and have a look what blackberry have got in store.

I can only think of one reason why blackberry's are still going and that's BBM, there's no question about it, BBM is the only saviour that RIM are holding onto for dear life. If BBM wasn't there, RIM would have died years ago.

One of the questions in the tech world, Should BBM go multiplatform? sure it's good for consumers because all the people that are on blackberry can talk to people on other phones for free and it will link all the people together instead of using the old fashioned method of texting. As soon as BBM goes multiplatform, that will be it for RIM, people will realise that they can get a great messaging service plus with all the apps and UI that they've been craving for.

you can pick up a blackberry playbook for just 109 pounds, now that's brilliant for a tablet but for what you're getting, it's really not that great, you could be better off paying an extra 50 pounds and getting the nexus 7. First you've got a device that solely made from google and i don't see google going down ever. Google's just going to keep on rising and rising until they rule the world. Second the nexus 7 is made by google so they won't be killing it off, they'll be bringing constant updates to make that their own hardware is up to date on the latest and greatest operating system.

Remember it's the Iphone 5 conference tonight and don't miss out, i'll be writing a blog about it and it should be up by the end of tonight

Mystery iPhone app? Apple's clever advertising

Apple's clever advertising, The iPhone 5 is soon to be announced on wednesday and on the location of where Tim Cook should go up on stage to reveal the newest line-up of the revolutionary device. As i've talked about before with the iPhone 5 conference poster. Displaying the number 12 with subtitles above "It's almost here" and Apple have used clever advertising by turning the 12 shadow into a 5. So either that means apple will announce 5 new devices or Just the Apple iPhone 5. The 5 in the picture appears to be stretched that might be relating to the highly rumoured and almost confirmed 4 inch iPhone.

With another thing with apple's clever advertising, At the Yerba Buena Center for the arts in San Francisco, There's a picture in anticipation for the event and i'm sure it's made a lot of people turn heads and made people more eagerly excited for the new Device or Devices.

There are a some subtle sumbimalian messages inside this photo and i honestly don't know how people spot these but with every apple announcement poster or pictures, there's always analytics looking for these kind of thing within apple.

The first one, the pictures appear to be stretched indicating that we are going to receive a stretch device on wednesday and then there's one more that's really hitting and not many people see this unless somebody has pointed it out to you and once you see it, you'll never un see it.

So according to these pictures, there's going to be a mystery app exclusive to the iPhone 5, like siri for the iPhone 4S. The colours run through music, gamecenter, iTunes, stock and then the mystery app. The colour are obviously from the stock library of apps that come pre-installed on the device. It's just fantastic.

Are Apple really that good?

I've just started a new year of college today so this is a late blog and since there's nothing going much in the tech world, i'm going to have a rant about my iPhone 3G.

I was using my iPhone 3G last week and i actually thought it was dead, since it has no power button or any physical button available, the only way i'm able to turn my device on is using the headphone jack, I've gone into the internals of the phone and made it so when you plug an earphone jack into the port, it boots up the device, and then it turns on the display when its turned off. it's not the best iPhone ever, if you press the screen, the display flickers and displays a spectrum of colours, If you lift your finger off, you can see what you're doing but as soon as you touch it, it flickers so games are completely useless. That gets me on my next subject, if i'm playing games or browsing the internet, after about 5 minutes after doing these tasks, the device locks and it gives the warning screen, "the device needs to cool down before use". The battery life as well is absolutely low, if i leave the screen on constantly, the device runs out of battery in about 2/3 hours. When i used to use it as a phone, when it was enabled on 3G, the battery percentage when down by 1% every 20 seconds and so there's not much battery life when using it as a phone. The charger port at the bottom of the device is dodgy as well, if you want to charge it up, you've got to use a clamp so you can connect all the pins together and it's much harder to achieve connectivity with the computer so i can transfer music via iTunes. I think it's safe to say i need a new iPod. I've got an iPhone 3GS that's just collecting dust in my room and when iOS 6 comes out of beta and available to download for the general public. If it fixes the battery life problem i've had with the iPhone 3GS running iOS 5.1.1, i'll be using that as an iPod and i'll be selling my iPhone 3G (if i can sell it).

Using activator with a jailbreak tweak, where you can assign, swipe gestures to open apps, or reveal the notification centre, there's a lot of tasks you can perform with activator. Using activator actions, i've assigned a long press on the volume up button to go to the next track and volume down for previous track so you don't need to activate the screen, double tap the home button so it brings up the iPod controls, and then you can switch the song, you can just do in your pocket, But since the volume buttons have disappears, i've had to sink my teeth onto the volume up button every time i've wanted to switch a song or when that doesn't work, pull out the earphone jack and put it back in so it activates the screen and then switch the song.

This is also my first Blog solely created on my Macbook Pro, Yes this is the same mac that i got for my birthday on the 21st July, I've had problems with it, like it's been overheating doing virtually nothing and also some of the keys on the keyboard stopped working like the space bar and the backspace bar, and they are the most used keys on the keyboard, so without those keyboard, it rendered the mac useless.

Thanks for reading. This has been my proper rant for quite a bit now, With the problems i've encountered with apple products, i've lost a little bit of faith on apple products but still for these two weeks and these two weeks only, i'm an Apple fanboy.

Roundup of tech news of 7th september

IFA has been big this year, Companies showing off their devices that will soon becoming to the market. It may not be as big as CES but it still packs a big enough punch to make a dent in the technology world.

Amazon made an announcement last night that they are bringing out a successor to the Kindle Fire. Convientley called the Kindle Fire HD but they didn't just bring out one successor, they brought out two. One at 8.9 inches and the other one just it's older brother, is 7". You can probably guess what the new device features with a name like Kindle Fire HD, I'm putting euthasis on HD! Yes it has a HD display on the kindle Fire. I'm not sure what kind of version of android it is. It's very hard to tell. Amazon have done the same thing that they did with the original Kindle Fire, they used the Android Operating system as a base and produced a skin that not only changes the way android looks if you didn't know what was android, you'd guess that amazon have created their own operating system for their tablet. as you're using the kindle fire, there's only subtle details that you see that are only available to android users.

There's also one more thing that amazon have created to add to their Line-up of kindles. It's the Kindle Paperwhite. No not paperweight although many tech bloggers might refer it to a paper weight. A paperwhite has a much higher pixel density that the previous kindles, it's so much higher that it has 62% more pixels. So now books really do stand out from the crowd, when you're reading it. They say it actually looks like ink printed on paper. That's not all either, you've got a built-in Back lit light, so you can read your books at night incase your power has gone out or your secretly reading your book under the bed without the parents finding out so you don't need a torch to read it anymore.
The whole argument i've made between reading books on the iPad and reading books on the kindle, is that after a long period of time reading on a iPad you've got eyestrain and that's because of the LCD screen and with the original kindle having no LCD screen, just an E-ink screen and no back lit LCD, you'd have to rely on a lamp if you're reading at night or in a dark place and you'd get no eyestrain but now eyestrain may occur when having a back lit light integrated into the kindle.

Thanks for reading and that's been the roundup for this week.

Rooting and selection of phones

My friend is trying to buy a new phone and get rid of his slow HTC wildfire. It's slow making standard tasks, like loading up settings and messages. Everytime you press an icon or an item, there's a 2 to 3 second pause before the phone does anything. I'm not sure if it's the specifications of the phone letting him down or is it the phone itself not capable running the android OS Froyo OR is it just HTC being a pain in the arse and adding HTC sense to a phone that realistically doesn't need to be improve.

I recommend by friend to rooting and see if they've made any roms for Ice cream sandwich or even jellybean and get him off the ages Froyo OS. As i said a couple of weeks ago, CM10 (Jellybean) was ported over to the T-mobile G1, which is the first android powered smartphone ever and comparing Jellybean on the galaxy Nexus and the G1, there's a massive difference in speed but comparing the speed of Jellybean on the G1 and  Froyo on the HTC wildfire, the G1 is slightly faster than the wildfire, even though they are years apart.

I'll be honest, i'm not a big fan of skins on android, If there's something wrong with the bog standard OS change it. but when HTC change the Multi-tasking on HTC sense 4.0.4, there's just no need. Here's a link where i talk about the Multitasking UI on HTC sense --> http://techguy276.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/htc-sense-multi-tasking-ui.html

I'm not sure what CM10 heck even CM9 would do to my friends HTC wildfire, He says he doesn't want to root his phone, So we might not find out what CM9/10 to his phone.

There's always another option, he could buy a new phone and this what gets me on my other subject. There's just too much selection for phones these days, you've got Android with plenty of devices, i might like too many! Now it's good to have variety, like one with a slide out keyboard, one that has touchwiz or Motoblur or one with a big screen like the Galaxy Note. What i'm saying there's plenty to choose from but when you're an average consumer, it's very hard to know what you're looking for and consumers don't know if they are going to get a great user experience or get a suckie one from the HTC wildfire.

With me and the people who read my blog, you're taking a step further on what to look for in a phone and becoming a better consumer in the tech world. I've been doing it for years and know what i'm looking for and i've been able to pick up great phones for cheap, such as the i9000, i picked that up for £50 and they are selling it in the shops for £130 minimum.

There's one more thing as well. You should be happy with your phone on the very first day you get it. Don't be looking for a phone that might be getting an official update to the latest OS. You should be happy from day one and if you're not happy, well take it back because the Manufacters mught just decide that they aren't going to update your phone.

Is this the iPhone 5?

You might as well call me an Apple fanboy for the next upcoming days, As my blog yesterday reported Apple announcing the conference for their iPhone 5 or 5 new products. We won't know what apple has got up their sleeves until they actually announce it at the time and place they want to. So you can just call me an Apple fanboy until we see the iPhone 5 and once it's died down in the media.

I will be updating to Jellybean soon on my Galaxy i9000.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776738 Once i've got everything sorted on my device and backed up the nesscessary files and plus when i've got free time too to fiddle around with the phone, then i'll be updating the Jellybean from Ice cream sandwich and i'll be giving my review about it.

Could this be an iPhone 5 booting up? for weeks we've talking about what the iPhone 5 will have, Bigger screen, Bigger battery, 4G support, Smaller charging port, The list goes on. well we're only a week away from seeing what apple have been cooking in their labs for almost 2 years now and will it pay off.

I have literally no idea what the new iPhone will feature, such as exclusive features that will make it a must buy products such like siri with the iPhone 4S and Retina display with the iPhone 4. With the iPhone 5 just around the corner, People are already blogging about the iPhone 5s. YES the iphone 5s, That's why apple's stock is so high is because nobody can stop talking about apple. It's like asking for tomorrow night's dinner when the present day has only just started.

Thanks for reading from the Apple fanboy ;)

iPhone 5 Conference

You've probably already seen it by now, but if you've not, you'll be interested to find out that Apple have just announced their Conference to MAYBE announce the iPhone 5. and it's going to happen on the 12 of september. Apple sent out invitations yesterday to the press and let the developers get their hands on the tickets too and they sold out in seconds. The whole of the tech world has gone crazy over apple and that's why their stock is so high and never seems to be falling.

From the image you can see, there's a 12 in the middle indicating that they are going to announce something on the 12th and if you have a look in the shadow, it resembles a 5. Most likely they are going to announce the iPhone 5, that's what been predicted but this 5 could mean, Are they going to announce 5 new devices, they could bring out new macbooks, iPods, iPad mini, iPhone 5 and maybe a mystery device. The new iPad conference ended with Tim cook saying 'This is only the start'. Now that could be a refresh of new products but i honestly think that Apple could be on the road to create a new mystery device that might just change the world. Have they been working on their own Google glasses project?

So mark this day down in the Calandar, It's the 12th of September at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts at 10:00 am PDT.

Thanks for reading and feel free to comment.

Also with this Blog, i've been able to cross the 10 thousand views mark.

Nexus 7 Coming with 3G?

The most popular Tablet on the market could be recieving a mini 7inch brother with all the things we love and admire of it's older brother. Not sure what screen resolution it would be but every tech blogger seems to think that apple will make a 7.7 inch iPad at a resolution of 1024x768. I previously had a rant about this before. 1024x768/7.7 equals 163. That's 166 pixels per inch and that's just terrible, i previously had a rant about this and it's here -->  http://techguy276.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/ipad-mini.html
In my iPad mini blog, i was working out the Pixels per inch wrong so forgive for that.

I'm digressing, the reason i'm talking about a smaller brother is, the Nexus 7 might be having a younger brother too featuring 3G and 4G support as a way to steer more people to android Jellybean over the iOS Land of iPads. I've not got much really to say.
Google have been rumoured to bring out a nexus 7 with 3G and 4G because there's been a rumoured iPad mini. It's just one rumour after another and to be honest i've found all of these rumours, like the iPhone 5 and iPad mini quite repetetive and boring.

It's like all the people talk about is how the new iPhone 5 is going to look and what's it's going to have. Even i was under that spell.  the rumours for these devices, are always from the same source, and they've been known to not get many rumours right. I just feel like slapping them and saying stop talking about the Apple products for a couple of days until you've got something that going to knock us off our feet or just wait until the device actually comes out.

We should have more delta updates!

I'd like to talk about iOS but not iOS 5 in general, I'm talking about the little mini features that only tech euthistics apprectiate. Delta Updates, Apple introduced an Over the air (OTA) updating system where your Idevice downloads the update and installs the update right on your iDevice. You do not need a computer for this process, just a Wi-Fi signal is required and your set, you don't have to back anything up or restore anything after you've done. It's very clever.

An average update for the idevice is around 600-700mb and that sometimes can be a bit of the pain in the bum because you've got to wait for it to download and then install it and it might take ages to download on your phone. Well with Delta updates, you don't need to download the 700mb file, you download a smaller update which is around 50-200mb, on average it's around 124mb and the reason they can shrink it down is because you're not updating the entire operating system, you are only downloading the changes between one update to the other and that's how apple can shrink a 700mb file to a 124mb.

Updating your iDevice OTA only works for incremental updates, so this means that if you wanted to update to iOS 6 from iOS 5.1, you can't do it, since you're basically getting an entirely new operating system, you can kinda understand why apple have done this. The only way to update with that big of a leap, you'll have to use your computer to do it for you But if you were updating from iOS 5.1 to iOS 5.1.1, you'd be able to do it, since it's only an incremental update.

This puts a lot less work on apple's servers and mainly the entire bandwidth of the internet. Using delta updates for the millions of people that are using an iPhone makes the internet a faster place. If apple didn't include delta updates, everybody who wants to update to their newest version will have to download 700mb of data, it will make apple servers slow and unneeded bandwidth will be used it.

Now Google have introduced something similar and that's smart app updates. Say you were downloading an update for angry birds, you'd have to download 25 megabytes but with google's smart updates, the download size has been stripped down from 25 megabytes to 4 megabytes. This is very very smart by Google and cuts out a massive amount of internet usage across the entire world.
