Google IO #1

Firstly i've not watched the Google IO conference but from the many blogs out there gave it amazing reviews, on how they presented it and information.

A lot of software were announced, Jellybean is now been revealed as Android 4.1. Loads of people thought the new version of android would be a major release being a 5.0 release but no google have decided to make it a point release as it doesn't feature any new features that would classify it as a major release.

Technobuffalo, a website that i visit reguarly for all my technology goodness did a survey the other day on how much of the technobuffalo visiters were on ICS. This was brought up to the media's attention by Apple's WWDC 2012, as apple showed off at their conference that a little over 4% of android users were on Ice cream sandwich.Surprisingly the moderaty of technobuffalo visiters were running the latest version of Android, 48.7% to be specific, coming in second is gingerbread with 35.99% user base. Shooting all the way back down to just 2.14% is honeycomb, For honeycomb mainly being a Tablet bases OS this is acceptable to have just over 2%.

Back onto Google IO
What you've seen of google glasses so far is amazing, a first demonstration video of what Google glasses could do with our lifes and how it would improve them is astonshing. The Google glasses project isn't just a pipedream that isn't some concept or prototype that will never bring to the market. It's available to pre-order today if you were at the Google IO conference and you're a citizen of the US. It will only cost $1,500 now, They still aren't available yet and you'll be able to pick up an actual pair in 2013. Google glasses will shape the way we look at technology and content.

For one of google's opening statements on the state of android is that so far in 2012, Google have sold just over 400 million Android devices to date and that there's one million activations each and every day that equals to 12 per second. Now you could be amazed by that number if it was new devices but it's not, the million everyday activation could either restoring devices, updating the device, Rooting the devices or even downgrading the device.

Nexus Q is basically Google's device to compete with the AppleTV, Nexus Q is just an access point connected to your TV and Stereo System and using your android powered device you can change the song, video file or show off your pictures on the Television. Multiple devices can be connected up to the Q so say if you're running a song that you like on the Q but you're wife doesn't, well she can easily change the song to a song that she likes on instead.
